Brainstorm Blog #1

The first idea that I came up with for my zine is the story of an all-star student burning out. The first few pages would show the multiple successes of a famous musician throughout the years. The color scheme would be bright and playful. It would continue on to show all of the hard work that happens behind the scenes. These pages would have a darker color palette and instill anxiety in the reader. There would be letters with the word "deadline" in bold red to depict the amount of pressure that is put on artists. The end of the zine would show the protagonist going down a spiral until they can no longer produce the same quality work. They have lost all motivation because they are no longer passionate about the work they're making.

My other idea that I had was a zine full of metaphors shown in real life. Some examples include "cat got your tongue" or "chip on your shoulder". It would have large, caricature-like people and things, almost making fun of the expression. The cover would probably be a cigarette unrolling to reveal that the paper says "it's just a metaphor" on the inside. Another thing that could be funny is doing the metaphors in reverse. Like "tongue got your cat" and the tongue would be wearing a big boxing glove of something and the cat is knocked out. I would have to figure out specifics later, but I think it would be pretty funny.
