My final zine was a book of what idioms would look like in real life. The ones made in photoshop were much more realistic, some of them being somewhat uncomfortable to look at. The ones made in illustrator were playful cartoons. Regardless of the platform the images were created on, they were all very colorful and fun. I originally wanted to tell some sort of story, but it was emphasized that the story must only be told through pictures. I was uncertain of my capabilities to tell a story only through visuals so I decided to make something more fun and self-explanatory. The critique revealed that my images were effective. My classmates laughed at some and guessed what all of them were correctly. Making the zine was much more time consuming than I had imagined. I had a lot of fun most of the time because I would find my flow and just draw for hours. On the other hand, I was being a perfectionist and getting frustrated. It was also quiet straining on my eyes. Additionally, my original method I planned to bind the zine didn't pan out so I had to come up with a last minute alternative. This project showed me that I am much more creative than I thought. This weekend I used my new knowledge about photoshop and illustrator to create some art for my own personal use. Despite the amount of effort I had to put in, I really enjoyed this project.
